Seminars - Symposiums

The Hellenic National Committee of ICOM organises symposiums, international conferences and professional meeetings. To be more precise, in 1984 it organised an international conference with the participation of Cyprus and Yugoslavia, entitled "The Museum in Contemporary Society". Later on, it engaged in the organisation of annual meetings of several International Committees in Greece. These meetings dealt with "The Architecture of Museums (1985), The Museums of Archaeology and History (1987 and 1997), Museum Education (1988), Museum Documentation (1990), Museology (1993), The Conservation of Icons (1995-2006), Regional Museums (1999), Security Matters in Museums (2000), The Conservations of objects made of leather and textile (2004), Ethnographical Museums (2005), Audiovisuals and New Technologies in Museums (2006)

The proceedings of the above-mentioned meetings, as well as other publications, such as the translation of the manuals " The Conservator-Restorer: A definition of the profession" and " Preventive Conservation in Museums" have enriched in a significant way the museological bibliography in our country.
